Description The Iowa Primary Care Association is actively recruiting a Psychiatric NP or PA to provide care at a vibrant community health center (FQHC) in Keokuk, IA ! What is a community health center (FQHC)? The largest source of comprehensive primary care for underserved communities and populations. With an integrated care model that includes medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services, patients can access comprehensive, coordinated services often under one roof. Role Details Hours: M/T/W/F: 7AM - 5 PM; Thurs: 7am - 9 PM; no weekends, no call (schedule within these hours will be discussed) Full time position: 36 patient contact hours, 4 admin hours Sees on average 7-10 patients per day Appointment types: 60 minutes for new patients & 30 minutes for follow-ups Provider team includes: 1 part-time psychiatrist, 2 LMHC, 1 substance abuse counselor. EHR: Ochin Epic In Iowa, Nurse Practitioners can practice independently with full practice authority. Duties Conducts mental health histories and assessments. Formulates mental health treatment plan and manages acute and chronic mental health needs within an integrated model of care. Examines patients to determine general physical condition, following standard medical procedures. Organizes data concerning patient’s family, medical history, and onset of symptoms obtained from clients, relatives, and other sources. Orders laboratory and other special diagnostic tests and evaluates data obtained. Administers psychotropic medications and therapeutic agents, necessary to implement a treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitation regimen ordered by and within the scope of licensure. Participates in periodic clinic staff conferences to present case histories; confer with internal external members of therapy team to develop comprehensive evaluations or plan pertinent therapy programs to provide maximum benefits for each patient. Conducts care of psychiatric/mental health emergencies and initiates arrangements for continuing care or referral to appropriate facility. Complete clinical schedule at applicable sites while also being available for urgent assessment/treatment by utilizing health center’s telepsych equipment for all sites.
