PURPOSE AND SCOPE: The professional registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 1 is an entry level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). Performs basic infection control techniques according to Covenant HomeCare policy; examples are proper Bag Technique, hand washing, glove usage, appropriate handling and disposing of wastes or un-sterile compresses, and keeping dirty and clean items separate. Attends to nutritional needs of patient, which may include preparing meals and feeding patients. Performs range of motion exercises where appropriate under supervision of Physical Therapy. Checks schedule and calls patients to provide patients with arrival times. Reports any changes observed in condition or behavior of patients and unusual incidents to licensed staff. Assists in orienting new employees. Demonstrates knowledge and competency in providing for age-specified needs of the population served.
