Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through completion of a two year training at an accredited School of Nursing. BLS certification and de-escalation training ACLS (ICU, Float pool, Emergency Dept) TCAR Certification (SICU, PACU) For Emergency Dept: PALS, TNCC (within first year) Behavioral health RNs: CPI and BERT training within the first 6 months. *BLS, ACLS, PALS must be through AHA* Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients and their families that demonstrate recognition of cultural diversity Practice reflects customer service excellence. This position offers an opportunity to work with critically ill patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgeries and to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of intensivists, cardiologists, surgeons, nurses, and respiratory therapists. The ideal candidate will have experience in critical care and a passion for providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities: • Patient Assessment & Management: o Perform thorough assessments of critically ill cardiothoracic patients, including history, physical exams, and ongoing evaluations. o Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and lab results. o Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans for patients in collaboration with the attending physicians and healthcare team. o Provide continuous monitoring and management of complex cases, including post-operative recovery, ventilation support, and hemodynamic management. • Procedural Support: o When complex privileging is obtained the ability to peform central line placement, arterial line insertion, intubation/extubation, chest tube placement . o Provide post-procedure care and patient education, ensuring proper recovery and addressing potential complications. • Collaboration & Communication: o Work closely with attending cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care. o Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing education and support regarding treatment plans, recovery, and discharge processes. o Attend daily rounds to discuss patient progress, concerns, and updates. • Clinical Leadership & Education: o Serve as a mentor and resource for nursing staff, residents, and fellows, providing guidance and education on clinical practices within the CTICU. o Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to clinical research efforts within the unit. o Stay current with advancements in critical care medicine, particularly cardiothoracic care, and engage in continuing education.
