Department Overview ECMO services are provided for both neonatal and pediatric patients with severe respiratory and/or cardiac inssiciency that is unresponsive to mechanical ventilation and medical therapy. Staff are available 24-hours-a-day for professional consultation, patient transport, or provision of ECMO. Services are provided on the Minneapolis campus. Position Summary Coordinates and provides family-centered nursing care to infants, children and adolescents, utilizing the nursing process. Accountable for professional practice including independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions performed in collaboration with other health team members. THIS IS AN MNA CONTRACT POSITION. Education Requirements: * Informational Interview required. * Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. * Current Minnesota RN licensure. Maintains clinical charts and progress notes using computerized documentation system. Assures that all physician orders are signed and implemented per the applicable Minnesota Assisted Living regulations. Works with resident and/or representative(s) to assure delivery of appropriate services and funding. Manages and oversees medication and treatment administration. Assures medications and supplies are ordered in a timely manner. Assures medication and treatment practitioner orders are renewed at least annually and as necessary when there is change in medication and/or treatment. Minnesota Assisted Living regulations will be followed in obtaining and implementing practitioner orders. Assures medi boxes, bubble packs, and/or syringes are filled per medication orders/changes for medication administration by designated staff. Assures that all medication administration procedures are correctly followed. Takes appropriate action with staff regarding any problems or issues. Assures accuracy of medication and treatment records, including documentation of administration and appropriate signatures. Monitors work and performance of licensed and unlicensed staff. Meets with staff to coordinate care and address care issues. Plans and assigns/delegates work to staff within established guidelines. Interviews, trains, and orients new employees as directed. Assists and supports staff to complete assignments as needed. Assists Director of Health Services (DHS) in monitoring and evaluation of staff performance. Schedules and completes Supervisory Visits. Complies with Federal, State and Local Laws. Assists DHS in scheduling activities that support efficient and effective utilization of staff as needed. Performs any other duties as delegated by Director of Health Services. Support DHS to act as RN on call during scheduled times. Answers calls and gathers information related to assisted living community residents health and safety. Takes action as appropriate to the situation. Our team of dedicated professionals specializes in care of patients with hematology and oncology diseases, including new diagnosis, transfusions, chemotherapy administration, central line maintenance and end-of-life care. Our 7th floor staff also care for general medical/surgical patients, particularly those with non-infectious illnesses in order to maintain a clean environment for our patients with weakened immune systems. We utilize three inpatient rooms to support patients who need behavioral crisis monitoring. Our patients have an average length of stay ranging from a few days up to months depending on the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment the patient is receiving. Position Summary The Hospital Nursing Supervisor (HNS) directs, organizes, plans and coordinates overall activities of the hospital involving a high degree of judgment, initiative, and leadership including the ability to anticipate and positively react to technical, organizational, and administrative issues during their assigned shifts. The HNS provides leadership, coordination and management of personnel, and assumes responsibility for hospital administrative functions Monday through Friday when management/administration is not in-house and 24 hours on weekends and holidays. The HNS maintains efficient utilization of nursing resources, working collaboratively with unit leadership, the resource management coordinators (RMCs), and charge nurses. The HNS plays a critical role in patient placement, the admission status process, and the facilitation of direct admissions during routine and surge situations. This individual is visible and available to clinical areas within all areas providing patient care to facilitate patient placement, collaboration with and among charge nurses, and evaluate current and potential staffing concerns. The HNS interprets administrative/departmental policy and procedures for all personnel and acts as an administrative liaison, clinical resource, and role model for staff. They are responsible for triaging operational issues or clinical areas of concern and alerting the Administrator On-Call (AOC), Patient Care Director On-Call (DOC), or Patient Care Manager On-Call (PCM-OC) when needed. The HNS assists in the resolution of issues relating to physicians, patients, families and staff and performs investigations pertaining to incidents/occurrences during their shift as well as reporting to the on call leadership team. License/Certification/Registration: * Registered Nurse in MN required * BLS required Education: * Bachelor's degree preferred * CPI or Behavioral Health Care & Personal Safety Course within 6 months of hire Experience: * 3 to 5 years hospital-based nursing experience. * Nursing leadership experience in a hospital setting.
