Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Operating Room Technician I position is to be under the direct supervision of the professional nurse. The OR Technician I performs various duties to assist with surgical procedures and related operating room activities. The OR Technician I delivers care as reflected in the Association of Surgical Technologists’ Recommended Standards of Practice in a manner that is cost effective without compromising quality of care. When in charge makes periodic checks to ensure that prescribed treatments are being properly administered by LPN’s and CNAs and to evaluate the residents physical and emotional status. Participates in the orientation of new staff residents and families to the unit. Carries out restorative and rehabilitative programs including teaching resident to wash/feed/dress self as appropriate. Ensures that the facility policy on the use of restraints is followed and that documentation is timely and accurate. Ensure that the unit is kept clean free from clutter and that the supply room door is kept locked; request the supervisor’s intervention as necessary to achieve this. Follows infection control standards and ensures that assigned personnel do likewise. Keep abreast of new nursing policies and procedures. Keep nurses notes, plan of care and all other documentation pertaining to your assigned resident timely accurate and complete. Carries out end of shift responsibility e.g. supplies are available for next shift’. Unit is clean and tidy; all documentation is complete and accurate. Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies. Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination. Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds. Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident’s blood/body fluids. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary. Working Conditions: Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area. Will be subject to frequent interruptions. May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. Hourly Rate: $80/Hr.
