Assists physicians in the performance of all cardiac and vascular procedures . He/she has an in-depth knowledge of cardiovascular disease and associated co-morbidities, and is trained and experienced in: handling emergent and life-threatening situations maintains BLS and ACLS certification and skills maintains IABP certification and skills proper operation of departmental equipment achieving and maintaining sterile technique achieving and maintaining hemostasis following procedures the uses and risks associated with the administration of contrast media. Provides direct care to patients – before, during and after procedures. Completes pre-procedural physical patient assessment. Reviews patient information, including H&P, lab work and other test results. Re-assesses and monitors patients based on their individual clinical needs. Initiates appropriate steps to provide optimal patient experience . Administers IV fluids and blood products as ordered and per hospital policy .
