Works independently with minimal supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and willingness to accept an on-call schedule fairly distributed as dictated by existing staffing levels and responds to “on call” activation within 30 minutes. 2. Demonstrates proficiency with critical thinking related to immediate post anesthesia management as evidenced by airway management, hemodynamics, thermoregulation, PONV, and Pain Management. 3. Accurately captures all applicable patient charges. 4. Demonstrates proficiency with A-lines, epidural blocks, CVP lines, Alaris pump, PCA pump, hot Ice, epidural pumps, and Mistral-Air.. 5. Proficient with holding area expectations as evidenced by verification & completion of all needed surgical procedure forms, observation of patients receiving anxiolysis, appropriate monitoring of sedated patients, and placing EKG leads if sedating patients procedures. 6. Accesses and utilizes EPIC system to enter orders; views/prints medication reconciliation forms; uses other software as required in line of responsibility. 7. Utilizes downtime appropriately such as promoting teamwork functions with the surgical department, assisting OR circulator with transport/positioning/and preps after hours, and assisting other stages of perioperative patient care within surgical services (i.e. PAT, OPS, Holding, OR). 8. Ensures care and maintenance of workstations including glucometer controls, maintaining warmers (re-stock and temperature control), maintaining refrigerator (temperature control), cleaning and restocking of workstations, and defibrillator. 9. Maintains professional competency and changing perianesthesia practices by attending educational topics related to peri-operative patient care, reviewing ASPAN or perioperative nursing journals, and recognizing standards of peri-operative patient care. 10. Demonstrates flexibility in accommodating work schedule such as staggering shifts and coming in early or staying late as necessary. QUALIFICATIONS 1. Current Ohio RN License and ADN. 2. CPR certification within 30 days of employment. 3. ACLS Certification or complete within one-year of employment. 4. PALS certification or complete within one year of employment. 5. TNCC certification or complete within one year of employment. 6. Ability to read, write and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff. 7. Attention to detail. 8. Ability to accurately take and record measurements or readings. 9. Ability to provide patient care in a warm and friendly manner. 10. Demonstrates competence in age-specific patient care. Current and valid state RN License.2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.3. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current. 4. The CCU RN must work successfully in a fast paced environment while caring for critically ill patients. The incumbent must utilize quick critical thinking skills and be a strong patient advocate. The RN plans, provides and/or supervises the nursing care of patients in an efficient and caring manner. The individual must adhere to universal precautions, and be compliant with infection control policies. The CCU RN works independently with minimal supervision and collaborates with physicians and other disciplines to ensure quality patient care. Assesses condition and provides treatment for care of patient. 10. Administers prescribed medications. 11. Provides leadership while working collaboratively with other care givers in the department. 12. BSN and two years of experience in psychiatric/behavioral health nursing or ADN with 4 years of experience in psychiatric/behavioral health nursing 2. HOW YOU'LL WORK: You'll provide skilled nursing care in a patient's home as directed by the attending physician. You will work autonomously, so you need to be efficient in managing your time. You'll be responsible for all practices and duties within the scope of practice outlined by the state. MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Plan of Care: Provide skilled nursing care as ordered by the attending physician and observe and monitor patient conditions and notify case manager of any changes in the patient’s condition. Minimize Patient Risk: Administer medication as prescribed by the physician and help decrease re-hospitalizations by educating the patient on preventative measures and making good decisions. Family Educator/Advocate: Educate the patient and family on the disease process using teach back methods to ensure patient and family understanding. Policies: Completes all clinical documentation following agency protocol and Medicare/Federal guidelines. Rules and Regulations: Understand and follow agency policies, procedures, rules, and regulations and communicate changes in schedule/availability to schedulers or supervisors. Operations: Attend in-service training and mandatory agency meetings. Reviews clinical information and presents it to the ED Physician, as well as the on-call Psychiatrist to determine appropriate disposition of patients 3. Documents assessment and discharge plans/discharge disposition of patient in the medical record according to department standards. 4. Verifies Insurance coverage, when applicable 5. Facilitates referrals to other Healthcare facilities when appropriate 6. Serves as a resource for physicians, patients, and families 7. Provides compassionate, quality patient care in accordance with physician orders in a warm and friendly manner. 8. Takes and records measurements or readings. 9. Assesses condition and provides treatment for care of patient. 10. Administers prescribed medications. 11. Provides leadership while working collaboratively with other care givers in the department. 12. Demonstrates knowledge, skills and ability related to patient care and normal procedures in the Psych Central Management Department within own scope of practice as demonstrated in completion of annual competencies. 13. Assists with orientation process of new staff as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS 1. BSN and two years of experience in psychiatric/behavioral health nursing or ADN with 4 years of experience in psychiatric/behavioral health nursing 2. Current licensure as a registered nurse by the State of Ohio. 3. CPR certification within 30 days of employment 4. Demonstrates competence in age-specific patient care as documented by the attached checklist 5. Aggression Management System within six months of employment 6. Ability to read, write and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff. 7. Attention to detail. 8. Ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner. Must be able to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others. 9. Ability to read, calculate and prepare medication, and observe and analyze any resulting reactions and to apply clinical knowledge. 10.
