The University of Iowa Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner for our General Obstetrics and Gynecology Division. The ARNP functions as a provider of gynecology services in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics. Gynecology services include history taking and health assessment, physical exams, both in clinic and exams under anesthesia in the operating suites, management of contraceptive needs and hormone replacement therapy, evaluating low acuity gynecologic problems, ordering and interpreting routine laboratory tests; undertaking diagnostic procedures such as endometrial biopsy and vulvar biopsy, insertion and removal of contraceptive devices and providing general health education and education about particular health problems or situations. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides consultation, comprehensive treatment planning and a broad range of services for patients with normal and high-risk pregnancies and for gynecology, including oncology and reproductive endocrinology. Our comprehensive medial, surgical, and nursing services span the full spectrum of all obstetric and gynecologic patients at University of Iowa Health Care. In addition to patient care, the department is noted for its strong educational programs for medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing physicians. Basic and clinical research in reproductive medicine is an important departmental activity. Position Responsibilities Prepares complete detailed and accurate patient histories for wellness maintenance, contraceptive needs, menopausal symptoms, or minor gynecologic problems. Document findings on appropriate chart form which is recorded in patient medical record. This may involve dictating clinical notes. Perform, order and interpret routine laboratory tests; perform follow-up notification to patient about laboratory results, with particular attention to abnormal results. Prescribe medications in specified circumstances. Perform follow-up telephone consultation or contacts patients by mail regarding test results, and makes arrangements for follow-up as indicated. Follows-up on patients who do not return for scheduled appointments. Required Qualifications A Master’s degree is required. A Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred. If Master’s degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required. Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required. Nurse Practitioner, Ortho Access- Sports Med and North Liberty Campus

The Orthopedic Access Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will independently evaluate and manage patients with a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions, with collaborative support from our subspecialty orthopedic teams. The primary objective of this clinic is to enhance timely access to orthopedic care. While the clinic will serve patients with a variety of musculoskeletal concerns, those with acute injuries will generally be directed to the Orthopedic Walk-In Clinic. For non-surgical cases, the APP will manage the patient’s care independently at our Prairie Meadow Drive location.. If surgical intervention is indicated, the APP will coordinate referral to the appropriate surgical team within the department. The role may also include performing in-office procedures such as joint injections, depending on the APP’s experience and clinical assessment. There may also be some cross coverage expected in the Orthopedic Injury Walk-In Clinic (North Liberty Campus). There the APP would see musculoskeletal injuries and pain that have occurred within 7 days. This occasionally requires splinting and casting. We provide training for this. The University of Iowa Health Care Walk-In Clinics is seeking a Weekend Option (WEO) 60% (24 hours a week) Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNP) to support our Iowa City (Corridor) and Quad Cities Quick Care/Urgent Care locations . Our Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs) perform direct patient care, including diagnostic and therapeutic services within our Walk-in Clinics. UI Walk-in Clinics provide care to try to save our patients a trip to the emergency room. We’re open evenings, weekends, and even some holidays. Our clinics are responsible to assess a wide variety of patients from newborn to geriatric and ensures patient care standards are met and provide access to additional care options not normally found at your traditional walk-in clinic, including X-rays, IV fluids, and stitches. This position is part of a dynamic and fast paced environment, rich with opportunities for learning and growth. We utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that encourages teamwork between multiple disciplinary teams to provide the most comprehensive care to our patients. We have multiple clinics throughout the corridor area, as well as two locations in the Quad Cities, allowing our patients to find a location that is convenient to them. In accordance with scope of practice as outlined by applicable state law, regulations, institutional policies and practice agreements, the position will conduct comprehensive health history and physical assessments, establish medical diagnoses, order and evaluates diagnostic studies, and develop treatment plans. The position will practice in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Duties To Include Functions independently and/or as a member of an interdisciplinary team to plan, deliver, and evaluate care of patients. Obtains and documents a health history; performs and documents complete, system-focused, or symptom-specific physical examination, assessment, and plan of care. In collaboration, provides healthcare services for primary, acute, and complex care of patients and manages patient's overall care, initiates appropriate referrals and consultations, and identifying expected outcomes for diagnoses. Orders, performs, interprets, and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated. Forms differential diagnoses and treats acute and chronic conditions. Prescribes therapeutic interventions both pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic and surgical/procedural, needed to achieve expected outcomes. Utilizes evidence-based, approved practice protocols in planning and implementing care. Provides specialty specific consultation services upon request and within specialty scope of practice. Facilitates the patient’s transition between and within health care settings, such as admitting, transferring, and discharging patients. Participates in departmental educational conferences and clinical care meetings. Accurately and appropriately complete documentation of patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR) and other records for compliance, billing, and other regulatory standards. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as requested/assigned. Education Requirements A master's degree in nursing is required. Current certification as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) and/or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). Licensure as ARNP in State of Iowa. Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa. Experience Requirements Demonstrated experience in the clinical care of pediatric patients. Demonstrated ability to work independently with indirect supervision and critical thinking/problem solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification. Federal DEA license. Desired Qualifications Knowledge and experience in gastroenterology. Knowledge and experience in ambulatory care. About The Migrant Farmworker Program Farmworkers perform difficult labor and are in the fields from early morning until late evening, sometimes seven days a week. Such a schedule does not facilitate access to health care services. There are also language barriers and transportation issues. Health care clinics are scheduled in locations where farmworkers are working and living, during the hours when workers are available for services. In these locations, workers receive vital exams such as blood pressure, temperature, height and weight, and blood profiling to check for anemia, cholesterol, and diabetes.
