Purpose of Position: Provides evaluation and follow up patient care and conducts selected health services for psychiatric patients under the direction of the Executive Director. Description Responds to psychiatric emergencies utilizing training in management of aggressive behaviors. Demonstrates skills and takes initiative in preventing situations from escalating by recognizing potential at-risk situations and de-escalating patients. Provides psychoeducational and medication instruction(s) to patients and families, documenting appropriately. Acts as patient advocate and informs patients and families of available community and government resources. Establishes and maintains good rapport and working relationships with colleagues in various settings in order to foster the communication necessary for the delivery of quality patient care. Serves as a psychiatric clinical resource and acts as a liaison between other programs and providers. Participates in quality improvement initiatives, utilization management activities, clinical and administrative staff meetings, and assigned committees. Participates in training and development activities for the purpose of professional growth and skill enhancement. Assess and manages behavioral health patients. Provides a leadership role in behavioral health-related emergencies in the EC and inpatient hospital setting. Providing psychiatric consultative services to inpatients at Cape Cod Hospital in conjunction with the Psychiatry Department. Develops and manages a narcotic addiction program to better identify and treat patients in our community with issues of chronic opiate habituation. Follows clinical and administrative policies and procedures. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Performs other duties as assigned. Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, Medical Staff

Purpose of Position: Provide medical services to general surgical patients in the OR, ER, and on in-patient floors during weekdays. Description Perform history and physical examination on general surgical emergency patients upon decision for admission. Ensure adequate medical clearance for general surgical pre-op patients by ordering the necessary consultations and testing. Serve as surgical first assistant to general surgeon doing elective and emergency surgery. Secondary priority will be first assisting for surgical subspecialties such as ENT, Urology, and Gynecology for elective cases will be performed. Provide first line general surgical evaluation and treatment for patients in the emergency room that have already been evaluated by an emergency room physician. Prepare patients for evaluation and treatment by an attending general surgeon if appropriate. Collaborate with general surgical residents to avoid duplication of services. Provide services for general surgical inpatients by responding to nurses’ calls and expediting discharges, completing documentation, etc. at the request of an attending surgeon as time allows. Collaborate with the Hospital Physician Service physicians in coordinating general surgical emergency admissions and medical management of both pre- and post-op patients. Coordinate functions with any other surgical PEs to avoid duplication or omission of services. Provide post-operative care in local Skilled Nursing Facilities at the request of an attending surgeon including wound debridement, wound care, and education to staff, patient, and family as time allows. Collaborate with Chief of General Surgery in coordinating his/her clinical services and defer to his decision regarding clinical priorities and assignment. Collaborate with Chief of General Surgery and Chief Medical Officer of CCH on implementing and refining this position and defer to their decisions regarding programmatic and administrative priorities and assignment. Maintain complete and accurate documentation of clinical work performed and complete billing encounter sheets on a timely basis. Maintain all necessary certifications and CCH medical staff privileges as a surgical PE. Collaborate closely with the attending surgeon (“immediate physician supervisor”) of the patient to whom he is providing services. Such an attending is considered a designee of the supervising physician: Chief of General Surgery. The PE’s scope of practice is always limited to the scope of practice of the immediate physician supervisor.
