This position is approximately 50% clinical patient care and 50% nuclear stress lab responsibilities. Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology - Brooklyn Medical Group Clinical Patient Care : Provide comprehensive outpatient cardiology care in collaboration with a board-certified cardiologists. Perform history and physical exams, manage chronic cardiovascular conditions (e.g., hypertension, heart failure, coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation), order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans. Adjust medications, provide patient education, and coordinate follow-up care. Document thoroughly in the electronic medical record. Nuclear Stress Lab Duties : Prepare patients for nuclear stress testing (exercise and pharmacologic). Explain procedures clearly and compassionately to patients, addressing questions and concerns. Administer and monitor pharmacologic stress agents (e.g., regadenoson, Adenosine) . Supervise and assist with patient monitoring during stress testing, including IV placement, vital signs, and ECG monitoring. Work closely with the attending cardiologist, nuclear medicine technologists, and nursing staff to ensure safe and efficient test completion. Assist with preliminary reporting and quality assurance as needed. This is a full time position located in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. The schedule is Mon/Wed/Fri 9:00AM-5:00PM and Tues/Thurs 10:00AM – 7:00PM. One Saturday a month required. Preferred Criteria Prior experience working in an outpatient cardiology practice or stress lab. Comfort with IV starts and cardiac rhythm interpretation. Strong communication skills and ability to educate patients effectively. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Our department sees approximately 18,000 patients in a 10-bedded unit, with additional evaluation chairs and a separate pediatric triage area. The nurse practitioner will work relatively independently in the busy pediatric emergency department under the supervision of an attending physician. They will be responsible for the acute care of pediatric patients and shall assess the physical and psychological status of the patient by means of history, physical exam and diagnostic tests. They will be expected to follow clinical protocols, complete appropriate documentation for all medical encounters, to be cosigned and reviewed by the attending physician, perform routine pediatric emergency medicine procedures, including but not limited to suturing, splinting, phlebotomy, and urethral catheterizations, and write prescriptions in accordance with Federal and New York State Law. Preferred Criteria At least 6 months to one year of NP experience in a Pediatric Emergency Department, Pediatric Critical Care or Pediatric Urgent Care setting is preferred. With collaboration of the attending physician, writes antibiotic and/or oxygen orders needed for post discharge. Performs peer to peer appeals on post acute denials. Acts as back up for the Physician Advisor handling peer to peer appeals and written appeals when necessary. Performs secondary clinical assessment and documentation to support inpatient admissions as well as to support subacute, long term care(trach weaning necessity/settings) post discharge. Assists denials staff with open communication and feedback to medical staff in regards to denials due to level of care and insufficient documentation. Supports care coordinators to provide real time feedback to providers for improved documentation that will defend the length of stay. Works collaboratively with care coordination manager in process improvement in regards to length of stay, denials and readmissions. Supports care coordination department with difficult discharges and/or refusal to leave facility to a more appropriate level of care. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
