Additional Information About the Role Location : St. Louis Children's Hospital One Children's Place St. Louis, MO 63110 Position Summary: The Pediatric GI Motility RN will support the Motility program at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Motility is the synchronized, wave-like movement of the muscles pushing food through your digestive system. Motility disorders, or dysmotility, is when the muscles do not function as they should, causing a range of health problems. Motility disorders can affect any part of the GI tract, including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, large bowel and sphincter. Motility disorders are commonly associated with a change in the balance of the gut Microbiome such as small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). Our team works with patients to develop a personalized treatment plan that targets the source of the problem. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care. Responsibilities Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
