Input for the design of OSP was received from nursing teams because nurses are the experts in the care they provide. The overnight stay unit consists of 15 beds, a therapy gym, and activities of daily living apartment as well as ancillary services provided from lab, pharmacy, imaging, therapy, and dining. Team members utilize state of the art technology to keep patients and their families informed and up to date regarding the plan of care. As a nurse on the overnight stay unit at OSP, you will make a difference in every patient’s relief and recovery by providing patient-centered care. Our nurses make teamwork and collaboration with other specialty areas and ancillaries a priority to achieve a high level of job satisfaction and serve as a reminder of why we do what we do. You will participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds with therapists, care managers, and providers to ensure your patient is set up for success at discharge. Each nurse cares for 1-2 patients while delivering holistic primary care nursing to both the patients and families. Key Accountabilities Provide direct care to critically ill patients, including those requiring ventilatory support, hemodynamic monitoring, and other forms of life support. Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and manage complex treatment protocols. Perform assessments of patients’ vital signs, condition, and symptoms, reporting changes to the healthcare team. Monitor and maintain patients’ hemodynamic stability through proper use of invasive and non-invasive techniques. Assist with procedures such as central line insertions, intubation, and tracheostomy care. Accurately document patient care activities, including assessments, interventions, and changes in patient condition in electronic health records. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Utilizes the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and specific competencies to assess the physical condition and nursing needs of patients, and develops a plan of care in a collaborative practice with the patient and interprofessional team. Plans for the care needs of the patient in collaboration with the interprofessional team to provide the highest quality of care and clinical outcomes. Demonstrates clinical expertise in the provision of care in the clinical specialty assigned, and performs all functions of the professional clinical nurse (RN), which are age appropriate, developmentally sensitive, and culturally specific. Identifies ways to improve the patient’s experience of care, streamline care processes, and lower costs while promoting quality to improve patient, family, and team member satisfaction. Contributes to a professional environment that encourages mentoring, engagement, and development to retain expert clinicians. Provides consultation and maintains positive relationships with physicians and other interprofessional team members, collaborating to problem solve and improve patient care. Demonstrates, anticipates, and proactively manages risk to prevent crises. Performs skillfully in life threatening emergencies, matching demands and resources during crises situations. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required Current Wisconsin RN Licensure American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS).
