Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician order on assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Often utilized as a resource for more complex procedures and treatment modalities. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently; provides coaching and mentoring of others as needed. Resolves patient complaints in a timely manner in accordance with policy and in collaboration with support staff. Informs patient and family of hospital procedures and shares care plan during the time of care and at the time of discharge. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel, and assists others with escalation of patient care needs when needed. Fosters a growth mindset culture through providing mentorship, remaining open to coaching and feedback, and maintaining professional certification(s)/licensure in order to perpetually develop and uphold the skills required for proficiency within the nursing profession. Develops a professional career plan and establishes personal, performance goals in alignment with enterprise-wide metrics, frequently measuring progress with department leadership. Provides mentoring and coaching to newer staff to assist in their professional development and career path journey. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required. Master's Degree in Nursing preferred. Experience: 5+ years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse required. License/Certification/Registration: Current Registered Nurse License (RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact Registered Nurse (eNLC)). Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire. Specialty certification(s) preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge of advanced professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures. Often serves as a mentor and resource for team members and the unit. Identifies discharge planning needs as part of the care plan development and implements prior to discharge of the patient. Communication Prepares clinical notes and updates the primary physician when necessary and at least every sixty days. Communicates with the physician regarding the patient’s needs and reports any changes in the patient’s condition; obtains/receives physician’s orders as required. Communicates with community health related persons to coordinate the care plan. Additional Duties Participating in the HHA's quality assessment and performance improvement program and HHA-sponsored in-service training. Participates in on-call duties as defined by the on-call policy. Ensures that arrangements for equipment and other necessary items and services are available. Instructs, supervises and evaluates home health aide care provided every two (2) weeks. Supervises Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)/ Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and/or Home Health Aids (HHAs)/Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), as directed. JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) Must be licensed in the state of Oklahoma Minimum of two years of experience, at least one of which is in the area of public health or home care nursing is preferred. Maintains a current CPR certification. Responsibilities The Staff Registered Nurse's management of the delivery and documentation of patient care includes, but is not limited to: Assessment/re-assessments Development of the plan of care Implementation of appropriate patient care interventions Evaluation of appropriate patient care interventions Supervises and coordinates other licensed and non-licensed personnel in the provision of care to patients as assigned Provides guidance and mentorship to non-licensed personnel and students, as appropriate The Staff Registered Nurse reports to the appropriate manager, director, or vice president. Mental Health staff must be able to assist with physical restraint of patients, utilizing the identified Behavior Management Technique System. This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS: RN (Registered Nurse) Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Oklahoma or current multistate license from a Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) member state BLS (Basic Life Support) Issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 30 days of hire - Hospice Only: Current CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association required in lieu of BLS Other certifications and competencies required based on service line skill Hospice and Employee Health: Valid driver's license in the state where employed, available and dependable transportation, ability to drive automobile, and proof of current automobile liability insurance.
