The newly remodeled Pediatric Emergency Department is designated as a certified pediatric advanced prepared emergency center, consisting of 14 private beds. Our department is located in between the inpatient pediatric unit and the Pediatric ICU, which facilitates a great working relationship amongst the pediatric service line. In our department we see approximately 30,000 patients a year with a wide range of chief complaints from sore throats and lacerations to SI/HI, overdoses, fractures with reductions at the bedside, respiratory distress and full codes. We work together as a team consisting of physicians, midlevel providers, registered nurses, medics, patient care techs and a unit clerk. All nurses in the department are dedicated pediatric nurses and are required to have BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI and ENPC Certifications. All RNs are required to have 8 CEUs a year to maintain our designation. Summary This position will be working with the department’s Tucson Collaboration Community Care program (TC3), a collaboration between TMC and Tucson Fire Department. The intent of the program is to provide call mitigation of unnecessary 911 calls and redirect these callers to the appropriate agencies and community resources. Reducing unnecessary 911 calls is part of the department’s resource and service efficiency plan. This position will process referrals from field crews and manage a caseload of clients that may include medical, behavioral health and substance abuse disorders with various and dynamic needs. Navigators are part of a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate a plan of care utilizing expertise in counseling, crisis intervention and medical-legal issues, to ensure optimization of health outcomes for clients and their families. RN will work with multidisciplinary team members to develop plan of care for clients and collaborate with RN manager/TMC Director and assist with projects as needed. Essential Functions Process referrals by inputting client information as received from the fire field crews or TMC Case management team each day. Summary The Patient Safety Coordinator role serves as an advocate for patient safety by developing and leading programs that reduce patient risk. The role functions as an organizational leader in promoting systems that foster the development of a culture of proactive patient safety. Essential Functions Reviews patient incident reports, ensures follow-up by unit management and determines if the event requires more in depth investigation.
