We care for high-risk antepartum and intrapartum patients, with 16 LDR beds, 8 antepartum outpatient beds, 4 NST bays, and 3 pre/post-op beds. Summary The Orthopedic unit is located on the 4th floor of TMC’s tower. It is a 40-bed post-surgical inpatient unit. All of the rooms are private rooms with picturesque views. The majority of the patients we care for have elected to have their surgery: hip, knee, shoulder, spine, or ankle. The patients admitted to Ortho post surgically are overall healthy, motivated to recover, and progress rapidly. Elective hips and knees typically discharge next day, and spines stay with our team two to three days. We work collaboratively with our Orthopedic surgeons, hospitalists, case management team, and therapy team to ensure patient safety and satisfaction as well as to enhance the patient experience by placing the patient in the center of our care. Provides on-going orientation and professional development for all levels of personnel within a clinical department or hospital wide.Provides clinical orientations, competency assurance and on-going education opportunities.Works in collaboration with other Clinical Educators in development and implementation of hospital-wide education programs.
