RN Behavioral Health House Supervisor-PT/Days

Job Description The Behavioral Health House Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all inpatient behavioral health operations. The supervisor provides support to staff, coordinates admissions and discharges, manages real-time staffing, and facilitates patient flow. The role also serves as the lead responder for emergency situations, patient and visitor concerns, and staffing issues, promoting a therapeutic and safe care environment. Responsibilities Supervise day-to-day operations across behavioral health units during assigned shifts Serve as the on-site administrative leader when hospital leadership is off-site Provide clinical and administrative support to nursing staff, including direct assistance with patient care and crisis management Monitor and adjust staffing needs in real time based on patient volume, acuity, and staffing resources Coordinate patient flow, admissions, discharges, and transfers in collaboration with unit charge nurses Support patient and family satisfaction by addressing concerns promptly and professionally Respond to and lead emergency situations (e.g., code events) Enforce policy and procedure compliance; document and escalate disciplinary matters as needed Communicate effectively with all departments, physicians, and leadership Assists in investigations in a thorough and timely manner, ensuring information collected is accurate. Provides information to the appropriate designee to ensure completion of necessary reporting or staff follow-up. Other Functions Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Acts with delegated authority to support staffing decisions, initiate service recovery, and escalate disciplinary or performance concerns as needed. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Minimum three (3) years of clinical nursing experience required Hold a current, active license as a registered nurse in Virginia or hold a current multistate licensure privilege as a registered nurse Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required Candidates actively pursuing BSN with a defined completion date may be considered CPI required within 30 days Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association, required Preferred Qualifications Experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing preferred Previous leadership or charge nurse experience strongly preferred

Job Description The Nurse Extern, under the direction of a licensed professional nurse, performs care appropriate to the patient population served and meets daily routine patient care needs. The nurse extern may also assist nursing staff by transporting patients, running errands, and transporting equipment to and from units as requested.
