Responsibilities Under the general supervision and direction of the Surgical Hospitalist Physician or designee, conduct a wide variety of patient care and related duties in support of SPG Surgeons overnight. Position will function as first call for all emergency department consults with physician back-up primarily for Surgical Specialties to include urology, general surgery, plastics, breast & thoracic. Conduct rounds as needed for IP General Surgery specialties. Overnight APP coverage for St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford, MA Qualifications Bachelors Degree in a related field is required. Graduate of an A.M.A.-approved Physician Assistant program is required. Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Physician Assistant is required. Nurse Practitioner: Masters of Science Degree in Nursing is required. Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Nurse Practitioner is required. Current Massachusetts R.N. registration is required. Nurse Practitioner Certificate/Physician Assistant Certificate is required. Knowledge and skill of orthopedic disorders and treatments is required. Surgical First Assistant certification required upon hire Skill in operating medical equipment, a variety of software applications and multiple projects is required AND/OR Nurse Practitioner is required. One year experience required as an Advanced Practice Practitioner Practitioner Certificate/Physician Assistant Certificate is required. Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants within one year of hire is required. Qualified in all basic and advanced cardiac support standards is required.
