Neurosurgery Lead Surgical - Nurse Practitioner/ Physician Assistant- Piedmont Atlanta Hospital

Overview: Performs a variety of patient care activities in accordance with established standards and practice. Responsible for the day-to-day administrative duties and clinical activities of the APP's in a variety of settings to include but not limited to the outpatient clinic and inpatient setting. Responsibilities: Supervises and provides leadership to a team of APP's. Responsible for and collaborates with administrative leaders on all Staffing decisions for APPs in designated area, including but not limited to the following: Schedules & Recruitment annual reviews Remain in compliance with annual training Supports the overall day-to-day administrative and clinical activities of the team, provides expert medical care under the direction of the supervising physician Maintains an effective operating environment in which assures effective, efficient and safe operations of the team that responds to patient, physician and staff needs. Acts as a liaison between Physicians, Administrative Team and APP's in order to promote cohesiveness Performs assigned shifts as an APP to support the team Manages up matters of significance to Administrator Maintains sufficient scheduling to support volumes and to manage crises events Qualifications: Skill and ability in electronic medical records applications. Ability to work as a member of a team. Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with team members and patients. Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to understand legal issues that influence the practice of the APP's. Ability to lead a team maintaining professional demeanor. Ability to build effective relationships within and outside PHC. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations and assist when only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate from a school of nursing with current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing, OR graduate of a Physician Assistant program with current license for the Georgia State Composite Board MINIMUM EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: Three years of previous supervisory or lead experience MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Georgia OR Licensed for Advanced Practice Nursing (ACNP, FNP, and WHNP). Overview: Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner - Cardiac Critical Care - Piedmont Heart Institute Responsibilities: PHI's critical care extenders provide 24-hour, on-site coverage to some of the highest acuity patients in the nation, treating and managing patients with coronary artery disease, advanced heart failure, structural heart disease, high risk percutaneous coronary interventions, arrhythmia, cardiogenic shock, percutaneous valve interventions, temporary mechanical circulatory support including ECMO, and cardiothoracic surgery including transplant and ventricular-assist device implantation. Key Responsibilities of Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners on the Cardiac Critical Care Service include: Provides direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients within institutional guidelines and utilizing evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the patient's physician. Formulates and implements a treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the designated primary supervising physician and/or attending back-up physician(s) Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests Performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient's clinical status Within the credentialing standards of the Hospital, inserts and manages arterial catheters, central venous catheters, pulmonary artery catheters, temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, and intra-aortic balloon pump catheters. Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation and administration of life supporting drugs according to established protocols. Assists with ECPR and ECMO cannulations.
