A dedicated charge nurse supports the unit without a patient assignment. The unit is equipped to monitor and trend heart rhythms and other hemodynamic pressures. Care of patients on ventilators, noninvasive ventilation with BiPAP or CPAP, and heated high flow oxygen delivery. Titrating medication IV drips to ordered parameters and the ability to follow protocols and order sets.
