Assistant Dean III-Nursing Student Success Coach and Retention Specialist

Rutgers University-Camden, School of Nursing seeks an Assistant Dean III- Nursing Student Success Coach & Retention Specialist. Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs, the Assistant Dean III applies a whole-person, student-centered framework to identify at-risk undergraduate nursing students and implement targeted coaching strategies that promote academic success, progression, and retention within the undergraduate program. Providing individualized and group-based academic coaching, including nursing content support, to strengthen clinical reasoning, clinical judgment, and professional development. The role develops and delivers structured interventions using in-person and technology-enhanced modalities, including synchronous and asynchronous approaches. The Assistant Dean III, Nursing Student Success Coach and Retention Specialist collaborates with administrators, faculty, advisors, data analytics professionals, and student support services to design and implement data-informed retention initiatives that support undergraduate student success and align with established program goals and priorities. The position supports student engagement with learning tools and educational resources to improve academic performance and program outcomes. Using established data sources and student performance indicators, the position monitors student progress, identifies trends, and implements targeted interventions. The role utilizes the Navigate Early Alert System to manage student cases, coordinate outreach, and schedule coaching appointments. The position also facilitates appropriate referrals to campus and community resources to address non-academic factors that influence student success. In addition, the role manages the Nursing Tutoring Center, including tutor recruitment, training, and student scheduling, to ensure high-quality academic support services aligned with program needs. The role initiates and manages academic remediation courses and structured support strategies for students requiring additional academic support, ensuring alignment with established program expectations and student success goals. This position works closely with administration and advisors to identify and address programmatic needs related to student success, contributing data-informed insights to support decision making and continuous improvement efforts. The role serves as an ex officio member of assigned committees, providing expertise and input related to student success, retention, and academic support strategies. The Assistant Dean III-Nursing Student Success Coach and Retention Specialist serves as a resource to faculty and staff by sharing best practices related to academic coaching, student support strategies, and retention efforts. The position participates in student-facing programming, including orientation, recruitment events, and embedded student success courses. This role maintains accurate records, reports, and documentation related to student progression and retention and supports ongoing program assessment and improvement efforts. All initiatives and interventions are developed and implemented in alignment with established undergraduate program goals and in collaboration with academic leadership. The position requires strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively across units to achieve defined student success outcomes.

Onancock, Virginia Overview The Nurse Extern works under the direct supervision of the RN Preceptor assigned to them, as well as the Nurse Manager and/or the Director of Nursing. All of the following must be done with the direct supervision and validation of the RN Preceptor. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Demonstrates and displays an understanding of psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family. Adheres to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
