Reports to a supervisor or manager. Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technologists, and have 1 years of experience. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Collaborate with doctors and other surgical team members to ensure proper post-operative care of patients. Removes all instruments from sterile drapes. · Demonstrates knowledge of proper care and handling of specialty instruments. · Establish and maintain a neutral zone when passing sharps on the sterile field to prevent exposure/injury to self and others. · Adheres to personal protective equipment protocols at all times. Wear eye protection when scrubbed at the field. · Identifies and labels all medication on back table. · Inspects sterile packages, containers, and trays for integrity prior to placing on sterile field. · Check case supplies according to surgeon’s preference list. · Maintains current CPR status and surgical technician certification. · Assists surgical services assistants with room turnover by disposing of surgical debris in biohazard bags. · Identifies specimens verbally when passing them off to the circulator. · Facilitates and monitors patient safety by providing a safe environment. · Removes and put away unused supplies and sutures after each use. · Demonstrates competence and specialize in at least 1 major service, demonstrating competency, willingness and flexibility to work in other services as needed. · Demonstrates willingness to precept as needed. · All other duties as related to job.
