JOB SUMMARY: The RN / GN must have the skill and knowledge to provide population specific care. He/She must have the ability to assess, evaluate, identify, and interpret the requirement and needs of the critically ill patients and perform based on those findings. Care includes but is not limited to: Cardiac Monitoring, Hemodynamic Monitoring, Ventilator dependent patient (Acute and long term), Temporary and permanent pacemakers, Balloon pump. The RN / GN reports directly to Charge Nurse/Supervisor/Director. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: RN graduate of Accredited School of Nursing Licensure/Certification: Must have a valid, current license by the Missouri State Board of Nursing Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required Basic Dysrhythmia class ACLS Provider within 1 year of hire PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire Prefer 12-Lead EKG TNCC or ATCN within 1 year of hire Work Experience: Prefer one-year experience as medical/surgical staff nurse and/or ECCO within two years Successful completion of hospital orientation RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES: Provides leadership for the unit by organizing and prioritizing care by communicating and collaborating with others and implementing multidisciplinary actions to provide a continuity of care. Holds self and other staff members accountable and responsible for work performance and continuous improvement of patient in his/her work area and throughout the hospital. Ensures self-compliance with professional, regulatory and government standards of care. Demonstrates the knowledge of needs and task for his/her specific unit. Ensures the satisfactory completion of clinical procedures, documentation, educational and procedural teaching of the patient. Other duties as assigned. Documentation in the EMR that are accurate and detailed if needed. 5. Provide clean environment care (straightening up rooms, emptying drains). 6. Provide protection of medical record and maintain HIPPA compliance. 7. Fill out incent reports as needed for actual events and near misses. 8. Other duties as assigned. JOB SUMMARY: The Emergency Department (ED) Charge Nurse is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the clinical operations and patient care activities within the Emergency Department during their assigned shift. The Charge Nurse ensures that patient care is delivered in a safe, efficient, and compassionate manner, while coordinating the activities of the nursing staff and other healthcare professionals. This role involves making real-time decisions to manage patient flow, allocate resources, and address any issues that arise during the shift. The Charge Nurse reports directly to the Emergency Department Manager/Director. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred; an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with relevant experience may be considered. Licensure/Certification: Current, unrestricted RN license in MO. Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications, and trauma advanced certifications (TNCC, ATCN) are required. Certification as an Emergency Nurse (CEN) is highly desirable. Work Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in an emergency department, with previous leadership or charge nurse experience preferred. Skills: a.) Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. b.) Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. c.) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team. d.) Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare information systems. RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES: Shift Leadership & Coordination: Lead and coordinate the activities of the nursing staff, ensuring appropriate patient assignments and staff coverage. Monitor patient flow within the Emergency Department, triaging cases as necessary and prioritizing care based on patient acuity. Serve as the primary point of contact for all nursing staff during the shift, providing guidance, support, and decision-making assistance. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive and comprehensive patient care. Patient Care Management: Oversee the delivery of direct patient care, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, standards of care, and regulatory requirements. Participate in patient care as needed, particularly in high-acuity cases, providing hands-on nursing care and expertise. Ensure that all documentation is accurate, complete, and timely, and that patient records are maintained according to hospital policies. Crisis & Resource Management: Respond to emergency situations and unexpected events, coordinating the response and ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently. Manage the availability and allocation of equipment, supplies, and medications during the shift, ensuring that the department is adequately stocked. Address staffing issues, including calling in additional staff when necessary or reassigning duties to meet patient care needs. Staff Support & Development: Provide mentorship and support to nursing staff, assisting with clinical decision-making and professional development. Facilitate the onboarding and orientation of new staff members, ensuring they are familiar with department protocols and procedures. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to nursing staff, addressing any performance issues or concerns. Quality & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements during the shift. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement in patient care, safety, and departmental efficiency. Monitor infection control practices and other safety protocols, ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Communication & Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between the nursing staff, physicians, patients, and families, ensuring clear and effective communication. Participate in shift handoffs, providing detailed reports on patient status, staffing, and any issues that need to be addressed by the incoming charge nurse. JOB TITLE: Obstetrical Technician / LPN / Certified Surgical Technician JOB CODE: 5542 / 5552 / 5557 JOB HOURS: All Shifts JOB SUMMARY: The Obstetrical Technician is a nursing or assistant nursing position on the Women’s Health and Newborn Care Unit. The Obstetrical Technician provides supportive nursing care as a member of the health care team. The department includes functioning in a role between all three units including labor and delivery, NICU, and women’s health & newborn care. The role includes acting as a scrub technician during Cesarean Sections and maintaining of the Cesarean Section Delivery room. Employee responsible for a 30-minute response time to facility upon being called in. This position does have additional cesarean scrub call outside of scheduled hours, which typically consists of one 48 hour weekend of cesarean scrub call every 4 week period.(1900 on Friday to 1900 on Sunday) The Obstetrical Technician functions under the direction of the professional registered nurse. The professional registered nurse is ultimately responsible for the coordination and delivery of nursing care to women and newborns. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Education/Licensure/Certification: a. Can be any of the following in accordance to the assigned job posting: i. Surgical tech certification, ii. Licensed in practical nursing/GPN upon hire iii. Approved by Perioperative services for scrub role as a certified nursing assistant 2. Work Experience: a. Working with perinatal, neonatal, or gynecological patient populations is a plus, but not required. b. Additional skills not required, but beneficial include: i. Secretarial ii. Patient care iii. Operative iv. Phlebotomy RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES: 1. Maintain readiness for Cesarean Section at all times while here, including cleaning, setup, restocking, and equipment checks. 2. Scrub for cesarean sections 3. Maintain cleanliness and setup of all three units, including vaginal delivery rooms, treatment rooms, and outpatient rooms. 4. Maintain supplies through restocking and ordering throughout entire department including women’s health and newborn care, NICU, and Labor & Delivery 5. Assists in education of other obstetrical technicians as needed 6. Demonstrates ways to enhance the quality of communication between department and its customers, fellow employees, other departments, physicians, and the community. 7. While floating to other nursing departments in the hospital to function within scope of practice when not needed on WHNC.
