Get to Know Your Team: Hillcrest Hospital Claremore is a 49-bed acute care medical center offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including maternity and women’s services, ICU and cardiology services in the advanced cardiac catheterization lab. Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech: Prepare the operating room with necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and work closely with the circulating nurse. Terminally clean the operating room after each procedure and restock supplies. Under the direction of a registered nurse, carry out all scrub duties as outlined in the department procedure manual. Create and maintain a sterile field and provide instruments to the surgeon. Job Requirements: Graduate from an accredited Certified Surgical Technology Program High School diploma or GED BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care. Preferred Job Requirements: One year of Surgical Technology experience Certified Surgical Technologist through the NBSTSA or NCCT

Individuals within this job classification are accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting care activities in accordance with HHS standards in order to deliver efficient, effective and quality patient care. The Registered Nurse (RN) must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. The RN is to plan for the provision of patient care including the development, modification and implementation of the plan of care in accordance with HHS standards in order to deliver efficient, effective and quality patient care as described in the Patient Care policies and procedures. He/she is expected to adhere to and abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act.
