Learn About a Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant: Responsibilities The Medical Assistant Non-Certified provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic-based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider. Qualifications Job Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care. Preferred Job Requirements: Associate’s degree. Graduated from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program. Prior experience in a clinic or hospital setting supporting patient care Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).

May serve in the role of Charge Nurse and is accountable for professional practice. Adheres to policies and procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety. Qualifications Job Requirements: Associate’s Degree or Diploma of Nursing Valid NM Nursing license or NM compact license (within 90 days of hire) BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care. DEPARTMENT MAY ALSO REQUIRE ACLS and or PALS Preferred Job Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. 2 years of experience in a specialty 2 years of general nursing experience.

Six (6) months of experience in an operating room or ambulatory surgery unit.
