RNs working in Intake are responsible for completing a GI focused history and patient assessment prior to their endoscopy procedure. RNs working in Procedures are responsible for reviewing the GI focused history and patient assessment gathered by the Intake RN. In this capacity, RNs will provide moderate sedation under the direction of the Physician; provide physiologic monitoring and airway management of the sedated patient. RNs working in Recovery are responsible for monitoring patients post-sedation. In this capacity, RNs will continue physiologic monitoring until patient meets discharge criteria.
