Shifts: 6AM-9AM 4PM-7PM Overview The Certified Medication Technician (CMT) assists residents with medications as allowed under State guidelines and is responsible for safe administration of prescribed medications and treatments. The CMT is responsible for the safe administration of prescribed medications and treatments as listed on Medication Administration Record (MAR). The CMT meticulously correct records of care including Medication Observation Record. The CMT provides personal care and personal care to residents as needed/assigned and ensures delivery of care and services to residents in the community to include Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), room cleanliness, scheduled activities and dining services and individual service plan need of each assigned resident. Qualifications: The CMT must be in good standing and meet all applicable federal and state certification requirements. Completion of high school or GED equivalent. Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written communication Must speak and understand English Positive attitude toward those diagnosed with mental illness as well as the elderly. Emotional maturity and sensitive to the needs of the mentally ill. Certification in CPR and first aid preferred or as required by the state. Must be neat and organized. Must be computer literate. Must have a positive Criminal Background Screening. Physical/Sensory Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation): • Able to lift and carry loads up to 30 pounds. • Able to walk, reach, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and stand for long periods of time; • Able to grasp, with fine hand coordination; • Able to push and pull; • Able to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures; • Able to hear and respond to emergency and call system of residents Essential Functions: Count and sign approved form, all narcotics with approved personnel before accepting medication keys. Alert Resident Care Director (RCD) immediately with discrepancies. Notify RCD when supply of medication and treatments are no less than 7 days. Notify RCD or Executive Director (ED) when supply is less than two days and medicine has not been received. Receive and verify medicine received is accurate according to pharmacy label and MAR. Notify RCD of discrepancies. Store medications properly and ensure lotions, ointments, and liquids stored separately from oral medications. Inspect medications weekly to ensure expired medications are removed. Verify current MARs are compared to new MARs at change over time and notify RCD of discrepancies. Remove discontinued medication from medication cart and give to RCD. Provide personal care to residents when needed, including, but not limited to, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, eating, etc. Provide general ADL care including, but not limited to vital signs, temperature, blood pressure, and weight. Document appropriate information in daily log as required, notify Shift Supervisor (SS) and RCD of concerns. Answer calls and assist residents with needs as assigned. Follow company standards, policies and practices to include, but not limited to, attendance, dress code, etc. Assist in dining room with setting tables, serving meals. and clearing dining room when needed. Assist with scheduled activities and housekeeping as assigned and when needed. Clean medicine carts daily at end of shift and restock as needed. Perform weekly deep cleaning of medicine carts. Attend and participate in staff training and in-services. Current First Aid Training preferred. Responsible for other duties as assigned. Perform all duties in adherence of established policies and procedures, federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain satisfactory attendance and report for duty as scheduled. Current Medication Technician Certification as per state regulations required if no LPN or RN training. Organize and manage multiple priorities in an efficient manner. Adhere to confidentiality procedures to ensure HIPAA standards are always met or exceeded. Establish good working relationship with residents through ongoing use of Company Policies. Report any and all deferred maintenance, vandalism or hazardous situations to the RSD or Executive Director discovered and take appropriate action as necessary.
