Surgical Tech – CVOR, Full Time, Flex Shift, Job ID # 1842792

Position Summary Provides specialized surgical technology support for adult cardiovascular and open-heart patients in an acute care hospital setting. Functions as a member of the cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) team during open-heart, coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), valve, thoracic, and other cardiovascular procedures. Prepares the operating room, establishes and maintains the sterile field, anticipates the needs of the surgeon, and ensures required instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and functioning. Performs or assists with vein harvesting, including endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH), consistent with demonstrated competency, hospital policy, and applicable scope of practice. Communicates and collaborates with surgeons, registered nurses, anesthesia providers, perfusionists, and other Open Heart team members. Participates in emergency cases, on-call coverage, room turnover, equipment maintenance, inventory management, performance improvement activities, and orientation/precepting of surgical technologists joining the CVOR team. Qualifications · Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program required. · Minimum two (2) years of peri-operative Surgical Technologist experience in an acute care hospital required. · Minimum two (2) years of cardiovascular/open-heart (CVOR) surgical experience required. · Experience supporting CABG and other open-heart procedures required. · Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) experience strongly preferred. Required Licenses / Certifications · Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required. · Surgical Technologist certification required. Communication Skills Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with surgeons, nursing staff, anesthesia, perfusion, patients, and all levels of the organization. Equipment Refer to Competency Evaluation for this position, including CVOR/open-heart instrumentation and vein harvesting equipment. Physical Requirements (Americans with Disabilities Act – ADA) Refer to Physical Requirements and Working Conditions for this position. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the acute care operating room, including prolonged standing, positioning patients, and moving surgical equipment.

Position Summary: The delivery of quality care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation/re-assessment. The provision of direct and indirect patient care in the Medical/Surgical, Telemetry or Step Down Unit. Communicates with physicians about changes in the patient's clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
