Certified Surgical Technologist/Scrub Tech at Metropolitan Surgery Center The Certified Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Maintains a sterile field during surgical procedures. Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities. Qualifications High School Diploma/GED; completion of a Surgical Technician Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience Certification as required by state and/or center Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center is strongly preferred Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed Must excel in teamwork and possess strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, engage with patients, and coordinate with physicians Pay Range: $30.41/hr - $44.09/hr (Wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience.) Experience with ophthalmology is REQUIRED for this role. Job Summary The Certified Surgical Technologist is an integral part of the surgical team, responsible for scrubbing for surgical procedures and maintaining aseptic technique throughout the process. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, this role involves preparing and maintaining surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment, as well as ensuring patient safety and supporting quality improvement initiatives. Specialties include: Orthopedics, ENT, General Surgery, GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Pain Management, Plastics, Podiatry, and Urology. Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms for procedures by ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and sterile. Scrub and assist surgeons during procedures, maintaining a sterile field at all times. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide instruments and supplies promptly. Ensure correct counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after the procedure. Care for and handle surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols. Assist with patient positioning, draping, and prepping as needed. Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines to minimize risks to patients and staff. Support and participate in quality improvement activities within the center. Communicate effectively with team members, physicians, and patients.
