We have an opportunity for a full time, Pediatric RN, Surgical Services - charge to join our team!

Our Operating Room team enjoys a quality work-life balance through a 4/10 dayshift schedule.

Responsibilities

The RN provides nursing care to our pediatric patients within the Operating Room, and performs assessments and interventions designed to keep the patients safe during surgery.
The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.
The RN will function within the Shriners Hospitals for Children Professional Practice Model (FOCUSED), which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN.
The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources.

In addition to the duties of the Pediatric RN, this position will also assume these additional responsibilities:

Manages daily flow of surgical cases
Supports staff as needed to optimize efficiency and maintain patient safety
Coordinates vendors and special requests
Collaborates daily with OR schedulers, anesthesia, preop and recovery, and sterile processing team.
Performs daily audits and PI initiatives
Coordinates OR staff schedules

Qualifications

Required:

RN license in state of practice
BLS
PEAR, PALS, ACLS: Obtain within 1 year of employment as required by hospital

Leadership experience
Prior pediatric acute care, plastic reconstructive surgery and laser experience a plus

Each patient room has electrocardiographic, pulse oximetry, respiratory, hemodynamic and intracranial pressure monitoring capability, as well as central EKG and respiratory monitoring. Portable monitoring during patient transport is provided. Special equipment includes radiant warmer beds, heating/cooling blanket systems, Mapleson manual ventilation system, end tidal CO2 monitors, ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, intracranial pressure monitoring system, ventriculostomy systems, infusion pumps, blood warmer, continuous renal replacement systems, and peripheral nerve stimulators. Requirements Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Experienced pediatric intensive care nurse of at least 2 years preferred.
