Position Overview:

The Special Float Registered Nurse (RN) provides flexible and comprehensive nursing care across multiple units within the healthcare facility. This role requires adaptability to work in various clinical settings, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients in diverse environments. The Special Float RN is responsible for performing patient assessments, administering treatments, coordinating care plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. This position demands strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to quickly adjust to different patient needs and unit protocols. The Special Float RN plays a critical role in maintaining continuity of care and supporting staff across the organization.

Education Qualifications:

  • Required: Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing

Certification Qualifications:

  • Required: Current Illinois Nursing License
  • Required: Current Basic Life Support (AHA or American Red Cross BLS) certification
  • Required: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Required: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA or American Red Cross ACLS)
  • Required: Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training course (CPI) within 1 month of hire date
  • Preferred: Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or International Trauma Life Support Certification (ITLS)
  • Preferred: Emergency Communication Registered Nurse (ECRN)

Experience Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in clinical unit preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team and excellent communication skills required.
  • Requires physical stamina and emotional stability
