This position functions within the Outpatient Department to assist patients and medical staff within the ambulatory care setting responsible for the overall operation of the Clinic.

Maintains skill sets, annual competencies, certifications, and participates in in-services and educational programs within the Clinic, hospital, and/or community as assigned; completes all mandatory training; attends and participates in staff meetings; adheres to infection control policy and procedures. Maintains a clean and safe working environment including adequate supplies and upkeep of unit and equipment, reporting any defective or missing equipment and safety hazards; refers un-resolved problems with patients/coworkers/visitors to department manager or administrative manager for resolution; addresses employee concerns consistent with Human Resources Policy.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

  • Provide clinical services, including working with providers, clinic staff and management to ensure excellent quality of care and services, efficient utilization of resources and compliance with SEARHC standards. 

  • Provide leadership and direction to the clinic staff ensuring efficient operation of all aspects of the clinic to include the front desk and patient care to all patients.

  • Maintain medication inventory and supplies not on the Warehouse PAR system.

  • Ensure that the necessary quality control checks are done with the Point of Care tests.

  • Clearly and correctly document all care and services provided in the clinic, completing nurse duties professionally and in a timely manner. 

  • Oversee the opening and closing of their provider clinics.

  • Clearly and correctly document all care and services provided, completing nurse duties professionally and in a timely manner.

  • Assist providers and other staff as needed, anticipating the needs of these individuals to ensure efficient and quality patient care. 

  • Communicate effectively with other departments to be an effective resource for their patients, providers, and fellow clinic staff. 

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required

  • Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or other U.S. state required. Direct Hire must have applied for an Alaska nursing license before start date. Agency staff must have an active Alaska license.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years

  • High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and every year

Experience Required

  • 1 year of acute care experience preferred.

Knowledge of

  • Nursing process and the ability to apply this in the working environment.

Overview Job Duties Under the supervision of the Ambulatory Administrator or Director, Manager and Medical Director, utilizes the Nursing Process to provide care, coordination of care and patient education to a group of patients, using the medical home mode. Assists providers in the provision of quality healthcare. Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served. Provides excellent customer service in a team based environment. Responsibilities Essential Functions • Assists the clinician in delivering quality patient care including measuring vital signs, obtaining history, initiating EMR progress note and updating allergy, medication and problem lists. Performs or assists with dressing changes, pulse oximetry, respiratory treatments, point of care testing, vision & hearing screens, and other required procedures as indicated. • Administers vaccines, medications and treatments as ordered by provider and within scope of practice. If in a clinic that serves pediatric patients, ensures vaccines are stocked and in compliance with Vaccines For Children/Florida SHOTS program. Vaccines For Children responsibility applies in clinics that participate in the program. • Plans and implements age appropriate care based on assessment, diagnosis, standard of care, medical treatment plan, and progress toward desired outcome. Assesses individual physical, psychosocial and developmental needs of patients. • Identifies patient/family education needs for growth, development, safety, nutrition, and wellness; coordinates or delivers training and evaluates the effectiveness of the teaching plan. • Accurately and efficiently documents findings, plans and interventions in the electronic medical record. Evaluates the effectiveness of care and documents subsequent changes to plan in the patient medical record. • Acquires and maintains knowledge and skills in nursing practice to contribute to the professional development of self, peers, colleagues, and others. • Anticipates and performs preliminary specimen collection and CLIA waived lab testing as indicated (e.g. Urinalysis, rapid strep, hemoglobin, lead, etc.). • Provides phone triage and coordination of scheduling urgent appointments as indicated. • Assists provider with prescription refills, hospital discharge planning and care coordination as indicated. • Facilitates scheduling and follow up for patients referred for consults and procedures.
