Overview

The Vermont Veterans' Home is currently recruiting LNAs to join a compassionate team dedicated to providing best in class care to our Country's Veterans, their spouses, and Gold Star Parents. We are dedicated to providing a professional and fun environment where staff may thrive and grow all while giving back to our Nations Heroes. Our staff provide person-centered, trauma informed care to residents with a wide range of physical and psychiatric disorders.   

 

This position involves patient care and treatment work at the aide level in a long-term care setting, working an assigned shift. Work assignments are performed under the direction of a Licensed Practical Nurse and/or Registered Nurse. In-service training courses are required and staff are encouraged to pursue continuing education. 

 

Current openings are on the evening shift, which is 2:00pm to 10:30pm. Starting pay may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Shift differentials apply to evening and weekend hours

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a long-term care and residential care setting. Incumbents may be assigned to any area of the facility and to any shift. Requires standing for long periods of time, walking for extended periods and distances, sitting, repetitive movements, bending, twisting, stretching, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Duties require regular and direct interaction with residents with varying degrees of physical and mental illness, dementia, infectious diseases, severe physical and mental limitations, and residents who may display unpredictable behavior. Incumbents predictably encounter high levels of stress and emotional situations, exposure to potentially physically and verbally violent patient populations and exposure to infectious disease.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Vermont Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA).

NOTE: Must maintain licensure as a condition of employment.

Special Requirements

Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels per regulation and is a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime as required is considered an essential function of this job class.

Job Summary: Summary Under the general direction of the Clinical Lead/Perinatal Tech and Director, in accordance with the practice standards established by the Nursing Organization and by the specific unit/department in accordance with the rules, and regulations and/ or standards established by the State Board of Nursing, Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Accreditation and appropriate specialty organizations relevant to the patient population under care of the Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA). Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry. Practices according to the ANA guidelines of care as adopted by the Nursing Division. Adheres to the Nurse Practice Act of NH. Assist with admissions process within the Electronic Health Record (EHR), collaborating with the House Supervisor (HS) and Charge RN. Inform the primary RN when the admission orders are entered for hand off report. Assemble and label patient chart. Place prior advanced directive on chart. Assemble necessary forms, copy chart and book ambulance if necessary to external facilities. Prepare chart and gather paperwork for discharge or transfer to other units in the hospital. Schedule follow up appointments and outpatient testing. Discharge patients from computer census and disassemble chart for medical records.
