We are on 12-hour shifts. Needed 6am to 6:30pm and 6pm to 6:30am. 

CNAS with current California licensure are being sought for our family owned, well established building. We are looking for team members who are excited to work in an atmosphere where providing customer service coupled with clinical excellence, is the top priority. Healthy staffing ratios in place so you can feel confident in the care you provide. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

A nursing assistant responsible for providing routine nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures and as may be directed by the Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nurses or Administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in a school for nursing assistants or have a license as a certified nursing assistant.
  • A minimum of 6 months experience as a certified nursing assistant or clinical experience while enrolled in a nursing assistant certification class.
  • Must possess a sincere desire to serve the ill, aged and infirm.
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
  • Willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: GENERAL

  • Perform all duties as assigned and in accordance with facility’s established policies and procedures, nursing care procedures and safety rules and regulations.
  • Make resident rounds at the beginning of each shift and every two hours thereafter to administer quality nursing care.
  • Verify the identification of a resident before administering nursing care or serving food, to assure that appropriate care is being provided to the correct resident.
  • Report missing ID bands to admission coordinator immediately.
  • Make beds, clean bedside and overbed tables.
  • Assure that water pitchers are cleaned, filled with fresh drinking water and within the resident’s reach.

Report changes in the resident’s eating habits to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse. • Keep residents’ water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water (on each shift), and within easy reach of the resident. • Perform after meal care (i.e., remove trays, clean resident’s hands, face, clothing, etc.). • Participate in and receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty. • Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisors. • Follow work assignments, and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks. • Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other facility personnel to ensure that nursing services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents. • Notify the facility when you will be late or absent from work. • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures governing accidents and incidents. • Assist residents with daily functions (dental and mouth care, bath functions, combing of hair, dressing and undressing as necessary). • Keep residents dry (change gown, clothing and linens, when it becomes wet or soiled). • Assist residents in preparing for medical tests (i.e., lab work, x-ray, therapy, dental, etc.). • Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc. • Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed. • Assist in preparing the resident for a physical examination. • Check each resident routinely to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being met in accordance with his/her wishes. • Observe and report the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdowns to prevent decubitus ulcers (bedsores). • Report injuries of an unknown source, including skin tears. • Observe disoriented and comatose residents. Record and report data as instructed • Perform special treatments as instructed. • Immediately notify the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of any resident leaving/missing from the facility. • Use only the equipment you have been trained to use. • Report defective equipment to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information. • Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property. • Honor the resident’s refusal of treatment request.
