Position Purpose:

Responsible for coordinating the Employee Health Program (including workers compensation and medical disability) and collaboration with MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center as well as assuming responsibility for development, implementation and evaluation of a plan of care for patients receiving cardiac rehabilitation phase II services. Coordinates Cardiology Clinics and cardiac testing as well as assists with referrals for further testing and maintaining communication with physicians.

What you will Do:

  • Collaborates with MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in the development and implementation of policies and procedures governing employee health.
  • Annually reviews department/organization policies and procedures to assure that MercyOne New Hampton Medical Center meets requirements of federal and state regulations.
  • Maintains current knowledge base of trends, policies, regulatory standards (such as CDC and OSHA), and legislation and advises administration when pertinent.
  • Continuously assesses and improves the department’s performance based on, but not limited to the department’s quality plan monitors, process improvement initiatives. Patient/associate satisfaction data and associate safety and injury prevention.
  • Maintains effective inter-departmental communication and cooperation.
  • Develops a system for identifying investigating reporting and preventing the spread of infections and communicable disease, with the Infection Prevention/Quality Assurance Nurse, among CAH personnel, including contract staff, and volunteers.
  • Responsible for hospital orientation and in-service educations programs related to employee health.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate of a program in professional nursing
  • Registered Nurse licensure in State of Iowa 
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required. ** If the qualified candidate does not have a BSN, there must be a commitment to complete a BSN program within five years from start date, in the role.

Experience: 

  • Must demonstrate competence in acute care setting (minimum of 2 years' experience) with emphasis on critical cardiac care.

Special Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, and with electronic health records 
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Excellent communication skills including public speaking, presentation and writing skills.
  • Ability to work under time pressure.
  • Able to set and organize own work priorities and adapt to them as they change.
  • Able to be involved in multiple projects simultaneously and succeed under an environment of competing priorities.
  • High degree of initiative and judgment.
  • Advanced knowledge in interpreting cardiac arrhythmias and recognizing ischemic changes on ECG required.
  • Ability to demonstrate use of exercise equipment and techniques.
  • Ability to have a good relationship with people of all ages and to adapt teaching skills to a variety of physical disabilities.
