Shift: 7a-7p/7p-7a; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population
  • Inpatient Oncology (16 dedicated patient beds)
  • Cross-trained for Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT)
  • Medical/Surgical Overflow

Primary Skills Utilized/learned
  • IV medication therapy, blood product transfusion, pain management
  • Hospice and palliative care
  • Ability to obtain Chemotherapy Certification
  • Time management, critical thinking, delegating

Personnel RN Will Work With
  • LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
  • BSN
  • Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association

Ensure appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for appropriate administration of all medications and activities. Will follow proper patient identification per JBI for all patient encounters. Teaching: Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects and planned treatment course. Interact with patient and family in a caring, professional manner. Telephone triage: Includes prioritizing incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices from emergent to non-urgent. Must respond accordingly in an appropriate time frame. Supplies: Includes assisting with inventory and re-stocking medical supplies, recommend purchase of new items as needed. Place stock in storage areas in a timely manner. Complete annual required safety and nursing trainings. Attend all mandatory staff meetings as necessary. Always maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information. Assist in training new employees related to job duties according to JBIs.
