Our 12-month transition-to-practice program offers interactive, evidence-based curriculum that builds clinical skills, leadership and confidence in the professional nurse role. What you bring:

  • Recent RN graduate (within 12 month) or a RN licensed less than 12 months with less than 6 months of Acute Care experience
  • Active Washington RN license by date of hire
  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by date of hire.
  • Able to participate in all program activities throughout the 12-month residency period
  • Ability to work a minimum of 36 hours/week, variable shifts and shift lengths and rotate per union standards

  • Start dates are determined by several factors including: NCLEX (one retest attempt allowed) , Licensing, relocation and department needs.

PeaceHealth is seeking a RN - ICU for a Full Time, 0.90 FTE, Night position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $52.15 – $77.39. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Job Summary

Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

Essential Functions

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  • Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  • Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Accredited School of Nursing Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Experience

  • Two years Required: recent acute care experience or successful completion of ICU intern/cross-training program. Some postings may be for a training program and the following criteria will apply to those postings: Experienced or new grad RN. If new grad, the RN will also be required to participate in the Nurse Residency Program.
  • Recent ICU experience preferred.

Credentials

  • Required: Registered Nurse
  • Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support
  • Required: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) according to Resuscitation Training Completion Requirements policy

Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs (Required)

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
  • Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
  • Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
  • Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
  • Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

RESPONSIBILITIES Last Reviewed: 04/23 Effective Date: 02/03 I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for coordinating clinical care of patient. Integrates all health care providers to ensure high quality patient/family outcomes, and establishes a consistent and accountable relationship with patient/family. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, initiation and development of the plan of care, patient/family education, utilization management and discharge planning. II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS Essential functions- Continuous: lifting up to 1/2 lb., seeing, hearing, talking, grasping, fingering. Frequent to continuous: standing, walking, stooping, forward reaching, handling. Frequent: pushing and pulling up to 30 psi, lifting up to 10 lbs., sitting, bending. Occasional to frequent: squatting, twisting. The unit operates on a 24-hour basis, with 24-hour neurointensivist and neuroscience acute care nurse practitioner coverage. QMC has the only dedicated NSICU in the State of Hawaii and supports Hawaii’s first (and currently only) TJC Comprehensive Stroke Center, the only American College of Surgeons Level I Trauma Center and only NAEC Level IV Epilepsy Center. QET 4D/5D NSICU provides care for adult, geriatric, and pediatric patients. The most frequent admissions/diagnoses include: post-op from neurosurgical or neurointerventional procedures, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, ischemic stroke, intracerebral and subarachnoid hemorrhage, CNS tumors, status epilepticus, and neuromuscular illnesses such as Guillain-Barre Syndrome, and myasthenia gravis.
