Position Summary The Telfair Breast Surgery NP/PA works under the clinical supervision of the TBS Breast Specialty Surgeons and administrative supervision of the Director, Telfair Ambulatory Services. The role builds upon general nurse practitioner training and skill sets by requiring specialty focus in Breast Diseases with particular focus on high risk for breast cancers and breast cancer surgical patients, treatment management, and pre-and post-surgical follow-up. The NP/PA maintains a case load of patients and bills appropriately for services rendered. Under the direct clinical supervision of the TBS Medical Director and the partner surgeons, the TBS NP/PA will run a high risk clinic for patients qualifying for high risk for breast cancer management. Clinical support duties, under the supervision of TBS surgeons, include appropriate ordering of diagnostic work up studies per high risk management protocols, monitoring and evaluating progress of patients under surveillance, rounding on patients, first call triage, and ongoing monitoring of patients on clinical protocols by working closely with clinical research coordinator. The NP/PA is expected to bill appropriately and maintain all licensures and privileges to do so. The NP/PA is required to meet all regulatory and compliance aspects of the role and to participate in quality and revenue cycle improvement activities. Routinely attends available continuing educational programs in order to maintain competencies as an oncology nurse practitioner and stays current with advancements in oncology patient management.
