Job Description:

RN - Nursing Professional Development (NPD) 1 works collaboratively with leadership and the Professional Development Department to improve the quality of patient care and nursing practice, with associated patient and departmental outcomes. The NPD 1 accomplishes this through facilitation of clinical education, professional development, competency initiatives and direct clinical support activities. The NPD 1 is responsive to evolving educational needs within a specified department, and serves as a clinical expert, learning facilitator, consultant, change agent, leader and interprofessional collaborator in a specific area of responsibility. Collaborates to identify, develop and deliver educational programs for both individuals and groups in both clinical, classroom, and virtual settings. Fosters empowerment of staff by providing clinical instruction, and support to assure clinical competency of staff and safe, effective delivery of patient care. Incorporates evidence and appropriate skill set standards. The NPD 1 actively participates in quality improvement (QI) and EBP processes. The position supports core behaviors, standards, values, and missions of UofL Health, accrediting bodies, and the profession of Nursing as a professional role model.
