Epic Care is seeking a Certified APP (NP or PA) to work full-time alongside our dedicated team of health care professionals in our medical oncology and cancer genetics service lines. This role will include a strong focus on genetic risk assessment, counseling, and testing integration within oncology care. Oncology experience is preferred but not required—we are willing to train motivated individuals. Medical Spanish, Cantonese, or Mandarin language skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Provide hematology & medical oncology specialty patient care in inpatient and outpatient settings.
Perform physical exams and patient observations.
Record patient medical histories and symptoms.
Create and manage patient care plans and contribute to existing plans.
Order, administer, and analyze diagnostic tests.
Diagnose and manage health conditions.
Detect changes in a patient’s health and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
Administer medications and treatments.
Evaluate responses to treatments and medications.
Consult with healthcare professionals and participate in tumor boards.
Educate patients and families on managing illnesses, treatment plans, and disease prevention.

Genetics-Focused Responsibilities:

Conduct hereditary cancer risk assessments, including detailed family history evaluations.
Provide pre-test and post-test genetic counseling for patients undergoing genetic testing.
Educate patients and families on inherited cancer syndromes, testing options, and implications.
Coordinate and interpret genetic testing results in collaboration with oncology physicians and genetic specialists.
Integrate genetic findings into personalized treatment and screening plans.
Stay current with evolving guidelines in cancer genetics and precision medicine.
Support cascade testing and family member risk communication when appropriate.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Oncology experience is preferred but not required. Appropriate degree from an accredited NP or PA program.
Active NP or PA licensure in the state of California.
Prescriptive authorization and active DEA license required.
Interest or experience in cancer genetics, genetic counseling, or precision medicine strongly preferred.
Fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, or other languages is preferred.
Proficiency with medical instruments and equipment required for clinical care.
Knowledge of EMR systems and computer-based data management programs.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
Understanding of federal and state regulations including HIPAA and OSHA.

Job Description Interested in a dynamic, autonomous practice setting, working with a highly skilled and collaborative APP team? Consider joining our ambulatory care Cancer Center Infusion APP team. The Cancer Center Infusion APP team is responsible for overseeing and providing care for 50-75 patients per day (depending on the unit size) across five Infusion centers for Oncology and non-Oncology patients. Infusion APPs triage clinical concerns, such as acute treatment related symptoms, in real time and ensure continuity of care through collaboration and communication with physicians'/surgeons/APP colleagues, as well as other clinical and administrative staff. Together, the team supports timely patient treatment, works toward patients' goals of care, and promotes a positive patient experience and outcome. In addition to our infusion areas, APPs provide care at the three-bed Cancer Acute Care Clinic (CACC). There, they assess, diagnose, and manage acute oncology symptoms that can safely be treated in an outpatient setting. When a patient needs a higher level of care, APPs in the CACC coordinate a direct hospital admission when appropriate or facilitate emergency evaluation and admission. This role will require the ability to work in both the Infusion Centers and the CACC. Job Description Under the supervision of the UCSF Department of Surgery & Department of Medicine and guided by the policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and bylaws of the UCSF Medical Center, some Nursing Policies, and, Medical Staff Policies, and any unique to inpatient or ambulatory patient services (for those APPs providing services both in the inpatient and ambulatory environments) this Nurse Practitioner (NP) position is assigned to the Berkeley Cancer Outpatient Practice and Infusion Center. This APP position may perform delegated functions as appropriate to their “scope of practice”. In general, the “scope of practice” includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, specialty protocols (e.g. chemotherapy), routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures. This position will provide outpatient care in approved age groups at UCSF Health settings. The APP has responsibility for the quality of standards of care for a specified patient population and evidences self-direction and accountability in the development of this role within the all UCSF medical center locations. UCSF Health requires all Advanced Practice Providers (APP) to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric APPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Health sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Satellite Clinics, et al). Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 30-60 days and must be completed prior to the first working day. Job DescriptionUnder general nursing and medical direction, utilizing standardized procedures, the Nurse Practitioner functions within an organized system for the delivery of health care in association with other members of the multidisciplinary health care team and performs specialized nurse practitioner duties in clinical settings.The essential functions include, but are not limited to:Provides routine preventative and continuity of care to adult and/or pediatric patients; this may include complete history and physical examinations.Orders diagnostic tests, which may include laboratory tests, X-rays and other imaging, E.K.G.’s, and other disease or condition specific diagnostic tests.Identifies and manages patients with unstable chronic diseases appropriate to clinical specialty.Provides urgent care to acutely ill patients.Acute care planning for patients in an inpatient setting.Assesses and diagnosis, develops treatment plans, and furnishes medications.Counsels and educates patients, and collaborates with healthcare team.Consults with physicians on the diagnosis and treatment of unstable and complex patient conditions.Documents medical records and adheres to patient privacy.Participates in staff meetings and conferences regarding patient care, as well as quality improvement/control activities.The 2328 Nurse Practitioner (All Specialties) may perform other duties as assigned/required.QualificationsMinimum QualificationsLICENSE*: Possession of a valid California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing; AND LICENSE*: Possession of a current medication furnishing license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing; ANDCERTIFICATION: Possession of national board certification, or eligibility, as a Nurse Practitioner issued by one of the following recognized national certifying body or organization: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)American Nurses Association – American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Pediatric Nursing Certification Board National Certification Corporation (NCC) for the Women’s Health Care and Neonatal Nursing Specialties American Association of Critical Care Nurses *Licenses must show "Current" on search.dca.ca.gov.
