Overview
The Wound Care Coordinator is responsible to collaboration with the nurse managers for the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and systems that facilitate and enhance nursing practice related to wound care. This shall include by not limited to surgical wounds, pressure injuries, wound vacs, and ostomies.
Special Instructions
BSN and Wound Care certification preferred. Wound Care Certification required within 1 year of employment if not currently certifiedResponsibilities
Develops, implements, and evaluates ongoing programs related to skin integrity that ensure quality patient programs consistent with the hospital mission.
Participates in a CQI program, which continuously monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care of the ostomy/skin patient.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing preferred.
- BSN or equivalent preferred
Minimum Work Experience
- A minimum of four years of current clinical nursing experience in a hospital environment in which leadership, interpersonal skills, clinical expertise, and professional creativity has been demonstrated is highly desired.
Required Licenses/Certifications• Current state licensure in nursing.• BLS• ACLS and PALS by next class offered
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities• Must be proficient in Windows, Word, and other basic computer skills• Must be detailed oriented and thorough in order to the complex• Must be able to communicate will with a wide variety of contacts at all levels of the organization and with external organizations• Maintains strict confidentiality with regard to protected health information and provider information• Must display a commitment to the Code of Ethics of their governing boards• Required to comply with OSHA regulations for the N95 respirator training and fit testing
