The County of Riverside's Riverside University Health System (RUHS) - Medical Center is currently seeking for an experienced Registered Nurse II/III MC/CHC for the Infusion Clinic. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred. 

The Registered Nurse II - MC/CHC is the journey level classification in the Registered Nurse – MC/CHC series and reports to an appropriate supervisory or manager level position. Incumbents perform the full range of professional nursing duties within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act with minimum supervision and periodic in-service training within assigned unit(s).

The Registered Nurse III - MC/CHC is the advanced journey level classification in the Registered Nurse – MC/CHC series and reports to an appropriate supervisory or manager level position. Incumbents perform nursing duties while applying advanced knowledge and skills in providing care and service to patients with more complex problems and needs within assigned unit(s). Incumbents responsibilities are expanded to include participation in activities relating to quality assurance, policy and procedure review/revision, in-service education, staff development and preceptorship.

The Registered Nurse will coordinate patient care for the Infusion/Oncology clinic, including managing referrals, obtaining records, and supporting oncologists during consultations. Ensures timely scheduling, authorizations, and follow-up care, including oral chemotherapy and clinical trial coordination. Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver efficient, high-quality care across the continuum. 

Certifications required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association. 
  • Current Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification required, or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Work Schedule:

9/80, Monday - Friday with every other Wednesday off

Hours: 9:00 am to 6:30 pm

Assess, plan, organize, and provide nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with physician instructions; make preliminary observations of patients and prepare patients for medical treatment.

• Assist physicians in administering treatments and in performing medical examinations, diagnostic tests and surgical operations.

• Administer prescribed treatment and medications, including dispensing, as ordered to patients; chart treatment of patients; record and report significant changes in condition and general progress of patients.

• Counsel and advise patients, families and significant others regarding special medical problems and/or proper healthcare methods.

• Prepare and maintain concise and complete records and reports; instruct patients in carrying out physician's orders; transcribe physician's orders to working records.

Registered Nurse II MC/CHC

Salary Range: $43.99 to $68.09 per hour

Education: Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. (A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a health-related field may be required for some positions.)

Experience: Equivalent to one year of full-time experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital, clinic outpatient setting, or healthcare agency program. Experience gained as an Interim Permit Nurse may be credited toward meeting the required experience. Evaluations and references must show proficiency of practice as a Registered Nurse.

Knowledge of: Current principles, techniques and procedures used in professional nursing; medical terminology and patient care routine appropriate to clinical setting; medical instruments and equipment; the uses and effects of medicines and narcotics; community resources available to provide patient care and follow-up; federal, state and local laws and regulations governing professional aspects of nursing; identification of potential discharge needs; payor source documentation requirements and governmental regulations affecting reimbursement.

Salary Range: $51.12 to $77.15 per hour

Education: Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. (A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a health-related field may be required for some positions.) 

Experience: Equivalent to three years of full time experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility or community health agency with references and evaluations to show appropriate skill level. (A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a national certification in a nursing specialty may be substituted for one year of the required experience. A master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing may be substituted for two years of the required experience.) 

Knowledge of: Current principles, techniques and procedures used in professional nursing; medical terminology and patient care routine appropriate to clinical setting; medical instruments and equipment; the uses and effects of medicines and narcotics; community resources available to provide patient care and follow-up; federal, state and local laws and regulations governing professional aspects of nursing; identification of potential discharge needs; payor source documentation requirements and governmental regulations affecting reimbursement.

Assesses the patient on admission within the required time frame Makes referral to other disciplines based on the assessment, such as rehabilitation and nutritional services Develops a nursing care plan for assigned patient on admission and updates the plan of care as needed Ensures the plan is discussed and developed as a result of the coordination of patient and family and the interdisciplinary team Able to release, remove, and reapply restraints to patient Ensures patient is in proper position and alignment Documents patient admission assessment and reassessments, patient care plans, and other pertinent information completely in the patient’s electronic medical record Demonstrates correct use of Biomedical equipment such as defibrillator, Suction machine, IV and feeding pumps, PCA pump, blood glucose monitoring machine Demonstrates safe and effective delivery of patient care such as completing team/patient assignments on time, making effective use of available time, showing initiative and teamwork Obtains consents for procedures and blood transfusions, ensuring patient has necessary information to make an informed decision Receives physician’s orders, ensures transcription is accurate, and order entry is accurate Follows through to ensure order is carried out Recognizes and responds appropriately to patient change in condition such as Cardiac rhythm, respiratory distress, GI bleed, pulmonary emboli/ edema, diabetic Ketoacidosis, adverse drug reaction and Blood transfusion reaction, etc. Institutes emergency action, notifies physician, obtains orders, etc. Completes and documents patient admission assessment and reassessments as required according to policy Reports pertinent observations and reaction regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e., physician, supervisor, charge nurse) and records these observations accurately Administers medications with verbalized knowledge of the action, side effects, correct dosages and route according ICU policies and procedures Demonstrates ability to recognize and Institute arrhythmia protocol for the following Cardiac rhythms V-tach, V-fib, PVC’s, asystole, 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree heart block, atrial fibrillation, and atrial flutter Directs, supervises, and evaluates nursing care provided to patients Administers medications utilizing the seven “rights” of medication administration: right patient, route, time, medication, dose, reason and documentation Assist physicians with special tests and procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, arterial line and bronchoscopy Participates in economical utilization of supplies and ensures that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner Participates in orientation of new personnel and performance evaluations of nursing staff Assists team members in giving care to patients or administers direct care when professional nursing skills and judgment are needed Coordinates nursing care of patients when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, or sepsis Participates in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment Is knowledgeable about the emotional and rehabilitative aspects of care and is capable of applying appropriate therapeutic interventions Provides assessment utilizing current ACLS certification and protocols renders lifesaving first aid and makes appropriate referral to the nearest organization that is capable of providing needed services Demonstrates ability to manage various types of tubes and other devices such as Foley /straight catheter, feeding tubes, chest tubes, JP drains, Hemovacs. T-tubes, wound drains, ostomy care, suprapubic catheter, continuous bladder irrigation Demonstrates correct set up and performance monitoring of hemodynamic systems such as Swan-ganz catheter, arterial catheter, and cardiac output Demonstrates accurate knowledge of critical Lab values and their normal ranges Reports and documents appropriately Demonstrates ability to verify correct lead telemetry placement Validates telemetry strips every 4 hours and PRN.
