Responsibilities of an Infection Control / Wound Care Nurse:
Develop and implement infection control programs to prevent and identify the spread of infectious agents in a healthcare environment.
Conduct audits on infection prevention practices and provides education to staff members as well as comply with mandates for state and federal public reporting.
Assess and treat residents with complex wounds, ostomies, or continence conditions.
Work closely with doctors and patients to create an effective care plan and ensure that treatment plans are followed carefully.
Qualifications for an Infection Control / Wound Care Nurse:
Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
Valid CPR certification
Two (2) years of professional nursing experience in a long-term care environment
One (1) year of education or management experience with direct care staff
