Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Nursing Services in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department.
Assist in obtaining staffing information that must be posted on a daily basis.
Demonstrate Customer Service and Professionalism at all times, leading by example with unit supervisors.
Complete rounds with physicians, schedule physician visits, and participate in wound rounds with nurse supervisors.
Participate in various committees and assist in preparing written and/or oral reports of the nursing service programs and activities.
Assist in determining staffing needs, calculating staffing needs daily, and developing work assignments and schedules.
Additional Requirements
Possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Licensed Nurse in the state of Florida.
Be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language and utilize computer systems for job tasks.
Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of residents.
Possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
Working Conditions
Work in office areas and throughout the nursing service area, including drug rooms, nurses' stations, resident rooms, etc.
Move intermittently during working hours and be subject to frequent interruptions.
Be involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and others under all conditions and circumstances.
Communicate with medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department directors.
Work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Performance Evaluation Criteria
Assist the Director of Nursing Services in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department.
Demonstrate customer service and professionalism at all times, leading by example with unit supervisors.
Make daily rounds of the nursing service department to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
Ensure that direct nursing care is provided by a licensed nurse, certified nursing assistant, or nurse aide trainee qualified to perform the procedure.
Education & Experience
Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related healthcare facility.
Must have, as a minimum of six (6) months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination.
Background Screening Requirement
This position requires background screening through the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
