Caregiver Full-time

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  Provide maximum daily resident care services, recognizing each resident’s unique individual problems, and observing and reporting any symptoms, reactions, or changes.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.    Receive report from Caregiver on duty immediately upon arrival at work.

2.    Handle and serve residents to assure safety and comfort.

3.    Assist with medication regimen.

4.    File and maintain appropriate resident records and/or other clerical tasks.

5.    Assist residents as needed in their activities of daily living, such as, but not limited to:  dressing, grooming, bathing, ambulation, and going to bed as well as being responsive to residents throughout sleep hours.

6.    Detect and correct situations that have a high probability of causing accidents or injuries to residents, employees, or visitors.

7.    Assure physical comfort and mental wellbeing of residents.

8.    Observe and report symptoms, reactions, and changes in residents.

9.    Give emotional support in assisting the control of negative behavior of residents.

10. Encourage independence by allowing residents to perform by themselves those activities of which they are capable.

11. Refer complaints to Wellness Director and or Executive Director

12. Participate in in-service training programs and monthly staff meetings.

13. Be familiar with licensure standards for Assisted Living

14. Give report to the Resident Caregiver relieving your duty immediately upon that person's arrival, if necessary.

15. Coordinate resident activities in cooperation with Recreational Activity Department.

16. Prepare table service and monitor and supervise the serving and eating of appropriate meals.

17. Clear and clean tables after meals and prepare dishes for return to kitchen.  Spot clean as necessary.

18. Read and understand directions on chemicals used.

19. Assist with environmental services as assigned.

20. Distribute clean linens or collect soiled linens as scheduled or needed.

21. Participate in one fire drill monthly with appropriate documentation.

22. Secure the building as appropriate for evening hours.

23. Regular, punctual attendance required.

24. Perform other duties as directed.

 

AUTHORITY: The Caregiver t is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities assigned as long as such action does not deviate from established organizational policies and is consistent with sound professional judgment.

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIP:

1.    The Resident caregiver r is selected by the Wellness Director and directly accountable to him/her.

2.    Establish functional relationships with facility residents, their families, and other appropriate groups and/or individuals.

3.    Work under general direction of nurse supervisor when Wellness Director is not available.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.    Must be able to deal with residents, using patience, tact and respect.

2.    Must demonstrate an interest in geriatrics.

3.    Previous experience in resident care desirable.

4.    Must be able to work with cleaning products and chemicals.

5.    Ability to accomplish multiple tasks during shift of duty requiring stooping, bending and lifting.

6.    Ability to lift 50 pounds safely with assistance.

7.    Have a commitment to the purpose, objectives and goals of Meadow Falls Senior Living.
