The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse (RN) who partners with and advocates for patients/families/significant others to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support which impacts patient outcomes in a safe environment. The RN functions in a versatile role that demonstrates professionalism and promotes excellence and autonomy in the practice of Nursing. The RN utilizes the nursing process in conjunction with evidence-based principles to care for a diverse caseload of patients within the department scope of service. The RN serves as guide, healer, collaborator, teacher, leader and sentry. The RN collaborates with and guides care delivered by the inter-professional team. The RN is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Code of Ethics and applicable regulatory standards.

Education: Graduation from accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Valid Ohio RN license
Current BLS certification required at the time of hire.

Experience: Minimum 1 year of acute care hospital RN experience is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills

Must be able to multitask with constant interruptions while maintaining a pleasant demeanor

Ongoing patient assessment prior to, during and following administration of treatment. Able to ascertain patient symptoms in relation patient’s regimen and other oncologic modalities of treatment. Able to assess and recognize oncologic emergencies and intervene appropriately. Serve as an advocate for patients and their families in relation to their cancer treatment & diagnosis. Able to interact appropriately with patients and families who are in times of crisis. Able to communicate effectively and appropriately with staff members and members of the interdisciplinary team. Responds to patient’s requests/needs timely and effectively. Documents all patient contact within the EMR. Identifies learning needs/style of patients and families and provides the appropriate education to them.
