This contract position is ideal for someone with a background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) who enjoys supporting students in both healthcare and classroom environments.
As a staff nurse/teaching assistant, your schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:15 am to 3:45 pm, offering a consistent work-life balance. While daily nursing duties are minimal, your expertise will be essential in specific situations, such as assisting in a second classroom where students may require tube feedings, seizure monitoring, medication administration, and careful observation for aspiration risks during mealtimes.
Key Qualifications:
- Current LPN or LVN license in good standing
- Previous experience in school, pediatric, special education, or similar environments is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-focused approach
- Ability to adapt quickly and assist in other locations if the need for nurse coverage arises
- Must be reliable, proactive, and comfortable balancing healthcare and TA responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Primarily support teaching staff and help escort students to inclusion classes
- Step into the nurse’s role when needed, handling specific student health needs safely and efficiently
