Director of Nursing (DON)
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing (DON) to join our leadership team. This role works closely with the Administrator and Compliance Manager to drive clinical excellence, support staff development, and ensure the highest standards of patient care for our high-acuity population.
- Serve as a key leader on the Nurse Advisory Committee and Clinical Leadership Team
- Oversee medication review and reconciliation for high-acuity patients to ensure safe, effective care
- Conduct patient home visits, as needed, to support care coordination and resolve complex clinical concerns
- Provide leadership, oversight, and education following patient or caregiver incidents
- Ensure compliance with New Mexico requirements for nurse supervisory visits
- Educate patients and families on program benefits and care services
- Support and guide Case Management staff to ensure accurate, timely monthly patient documentation
- Partner with the Compliance Manager and Staffing Director to maintain up-to-date credentials and documentation for field nurses (LPNs and RNs)
- Travel locally, as needed, to support patient care and staff
- Strong clinical leadership experience, preferably with high-acuity patients
- Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance hands-on patient support with administrative oversight
- Knowledge of state regulatory requirements and compliance standards
- Passion for improving patient outcomes and supporting care teams
Additional Information:
- Some local travel required
- Other duties may be assigned as needed
- Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program
- RN License (Required)
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) (Preferred)
- At least two (2) years of administrative experience in health care administration, at least two (2) years of home care experience and one (1) year of supervisory experience
- Must have a valid compact nursing license
- Must provide resume with proof of work experience and references
