About the Role:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at the NOW Clinic in Wooster plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care within a dynamic healthcare environment. This position focuses on providing direct nursing care, supporting physicians and registered nurses, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout their visit. The LPN will be responsible for performing clinical tasks such as administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with patient assessments. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate patient records and collaborating with the healthcare team to optimize treatment plans. Ultimately, the LPN contributes to the clinic’s mission of delivering compassionate, efficient, and effective healthcare services to the community.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Ohio.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to pass background checks and comply with clinic policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in outpatient or primary care clinic settings.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, preferably Epic or similar platforms.
- Additional certifications such as IV therapy or wound care.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient education and advocacy.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care including administering medications, injections, and treatments as prescribed.
- Monitor and record patients’ vital signs and report any significant changes to the supervising nurse or physician.
- Assist with patient assessments and document clinical information accurately in electronic health records.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and follow-up plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health maintenance, medication instructions, and post-visit care.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant clinical environment adhering to infection control protocols.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries and provide emotional support as needed.
Skills:
The LPN will utilize clinical nursing skills daily to provide safe and effective patient care, including medication administration and vital sign monitoring. Strong communication skills are essential for educating patients and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
