Summary of Job Function: The role of the Professional Registered Nurse is to provide quality nursing care in collaboration with the medical staff and within the guidelines of the New Jersey State Nurse Practice Act,

It is the responsibility of the Professional Nurse to implement the Hospital's Mission and goals through established policies, Implementation of these goals occurs through organization and administration of individualized age specific professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital,

The understanding of the principles of growth and development will be incorporated to assess each patient's age specific needs and determine age specific treatment modalities,

Education, Training, Certification,

Licensure Current New Jersey License as a Registered Professional Nurse,

BSN Required Current BLS Health Care Provider Certification,

Successful completion of all JCMC Orientation Programs and Documentation,

Essential Functions- Blood Glucose Monitoring, Cardiac Respiratory Arrest Management, Chest Tube Management, Enteral Feeding,

, Ostomy Care, Delegates and prioritizes work assignments according to the individual associates competence and patient care needs,

Demonstrates principles of self-care and supports peers,

Ensures patients environment is orderly and all excess equipment is removed,

Sends patients belongings to security as appropriate,

Implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department,

Initiates/develops/revises multidisciplinary plan of care and initiates discharge planning and teaching in accordance with department standards and using appropriate tools,

Integrates psychosocial, physical nutritional and rehabilitation needs of the patient within the plan of care,

Performs all other duties as assigned,

Performs assessment and reassessment of patients according to applicable department standards and identified tools,

Performs interventions in accordance with current policy and procedures, safety guidelines and infectious disease principles,

Promotes patient flow efforts by actively participating in patient movement and escalating barriers to management,

Promotes patient satisfaction through individual activities as evidenced by feedback from patients and families,

Promotes the professional image of nursing through community activities hospital committees, civic organizations, parish nursing, volunteerism,

Provides patient/family education according to the plan of care and documents same,

Provides shift to shift report,

Provide post-operative care to patients who underwent total hip & knee replacement surgery,

Provide education to patient/family on safe ambulation and total hip & knee precautions,

Sets goals and formulates appropriate multidisciplinary interventions to meet these goals,

Utilizes the nursing process with a multidisciplinary approach in the delivery of patient care,

Ensures that all orders are carried out and documented,
