The Breast Imaging Nurse Navigator serves as a critical liaison between patients, radiologists, surgeons, and referring providers. This role ensures timely, coordinated, and compassionate care for individuals undergoing breast imaging, especially those with abnormal findings. The navigator guides patients through screening and supplemental screening, diagnostic evaluations, breast imaging procedures, and follow-up care, while promoting education, emotional support, and access to resources

The Ideal Candidate
- Breast anatomy and physiology
- Imaging modalities (mammography, ultrasound, MRI)
- Principles of radiation safety
- Annual updates through professional societies
- Participation in tumor board meetings and multidisciplinary case reviews
- Quality improvement projects targeting imaging turnaround times and patient satisfaction
- Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English) to serve diverse patient populations preferred
- Care Coordination and Navigation - Serve as the entry point for patients into the multidisciplinary breast cancer care system
- Scheduling and Expediting Diagnostic Procedures
- Patient Education and Psychosocial Support -provide tailored education on imaging modalities, preparing patients for each procedure, and offering consistent emotional support
- Tracking, Follow-Up, and Quality Improvement
- Administrative Facilitation and Barrier Management
- Participation in Outreach - Participate in community outreach and breast health awareness

- Associate’s Degree - Nursing
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in oncology, women's health, or breast imaging
- Proficiency with EMR systems, scheduling software, and cancer registry databases
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Breast Navigator Certification
